Texas Heroes - Character Traits
Our 4th graders have been studying about famous Texas heroes from the past. Through our Thornwood Tiger Tales Blog, you will be able to share who your favorite Texas hero is and explain at least three character traits that you believe made this person a hero. Be sure to use complete sentences and descriptive language to detail your hero's character traits. Check out your classmates' posts when you're done to find other students who agree with your choice for a favorite. Leave them a comment on their post to let them know you agree.

Susan Dickinson is my favorite hero. She is my favorite because she did whatever she had to do to help them win the war. If she had to do something she did. She helped by sending messages to Santa Anna.She was their secret messenger. She was the mother of the war.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite hero is Sam Houston. Sam Houston was the one who stopped Santa Anna from having Texas as Mexico. Houston,TX was named after him for his loyalty ,and braveness. Sam Houston also led the sneak attack to Mexico!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is Davy Crocket because he gave his life to protect us.He also fought in the Alamo to protect us.We will always remember him.He was a brave man to go out there like that.He was funny for calling Santa Anna "Santa Anny".
ReplyDeleteI picked Stephan F.Austin because the mexicans told his dad that you have to bring 300 family's so than he died so stephan did bring 300 people in his family and that what I do for my mom ,and ,dad.

My favorite Texas hero Sam Houston because he was apart of the war. He wanted to free Texas from Mexico. So he made Santa Anna surrender. Sam Houston is brave,nice, and smart that's why I like Sam Houston.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is Sam Houston. Because he made Santa Anna surrender the Texas army won the battle because of his bravery.The Texans were happy because they won another battle. While Sam Houston was in the battle he got a broken leg. He was brave ,smart and strong.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is William B. Travis. Because he gave his life in the battle of the Alamo [sob] . He is a Texas hero because he fought for texas freedom from Mexico. Santa Anna was giving orders orders that Texas did not like so they had the battle of the Alamo were he killed all the Texans who fought the battle.

My favorite Texas Hero is Sam Houston because he made Santa Anna surrender the battle of San Jacinto. I will never forget Sam Houston for defeated Santa Anna. He was so brave for doing what he did.

My favorite Texan hero is DAVID CROCKET because he was brave and worthey to fiet for Texas.HE foaght for livorty.He saved children so they can live there for jenrations to come.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is Sam Houston because he stopped Santa Anna from signing a treaty in San Jacinto. And what he did was great because Santa Anna's army killed all the Texans during The battle of The Alamo. Sam Houston was a great man & we will remember him.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite hero is Stephan F. Austin. He a famous person because he fought in the Alamo. We lost the battle at the Alamo, but they said "Remember the Alamo." Stephan F. Austin gave up his life for our country. I wish I was a hero like him. He a person who made sure that we are safe.
ReplyDeleteSam Houston is my favorite hero because he stopped Santa Anna from stealing our land. We won at the San Jacinto and lost at the Alamo. Sam Houston trained his team so they could win. Thats how they won at the San Jacinto. Sam Houston also he fought in the battle.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is Stephen F. Austin. He did his fathers work by bringing 300 colonist to Texas. He was sent to mexico to speak to Mexico's president Santa Anna but was prisoned before Stephen could speak. He was freed from Mexico alive and he was ready for war.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is Susanna Dickinson because she told Sam Houston that Santa Anna won the battle of the Alamo. I like her because if Sam Houston would have not known he would have not gotten more fighters. I really like her because she is a very strong woman.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite hero is Sam Hoston because he didn,t given up on us even though we lost the battle of the alamo ,but we won the battle of San Jacinto because of him . Also he made sure every solder attacked teh mexico during the battle of San Jacinto.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas Heroes is Davy Crockett because he fought the mexian at the Alamo to let the americans have there own land .Although he risk his life at the Alamo they still won at the Alamo to get there own land which they won.Once they won the Mexcains lost they never tried to get there reveneged because they think they would lost again.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is Greenbury Logan. I chose Greenbury Logan because he pretended he was a slave to get information. Greenbury Logan fought at the Alamo. He was a African American but he was treated better, because he was a soldier. I think he's a hero, because he died in the war at the Alamo.

She was a good messenger to Sam Houston. Santa Anna told her to go to Sam Houston and tell him that they won the battle of the alamo.

ReplyDeleteSam Houston is my favorite hero because, he took risk to take that fight for Texas. Sam Houston would not stop until he won. Sam Houston just wanted for Texas to be its own state. And thats why Sam Houston is my favorite hero.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Houston hero is Davey Crockett because he fought for our freedom in the battle of the Alamo . And he gave his life for us but he fought long and hard for us. Another reason he is my hero is that he was trying to protect us and his country. For that he screamed remember the Alamo. And that is why he is my favorite hero of Texas.

He fought in the Alamo and he was ill with pneunomia and no one could ever be so brave to stand out in a bloody war and failed to protect every one but he tried he is the bravest hero I've ever seen in a long time. He had to stay in a sick room in the alamo there was no doctors at all and he was also determine to save Texas and many of its pepole he was sick but he never gave up on fighting to save texas and his pepole he sliced and diced through enemys to save texas and its pepole one day he got sick with pneuonomia and became ill and had to fight in the Alamo.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Texas hero is Erastus Smith because he trained scouts to go into the Mexican territory and pretend that they were slaves running from the Texans so they were able to gather information to plan the sneak attack on the mexican forces. His nickname is Erastus "deaf" Smith because he was deaf. He trained the scouts to ride horses and how to gather information.

ReplyDeleteHe was one of the presidents of texas when it was not one of the states of the united states of america.
He also found Santa Anna & his army asleep in the woods.
He had fought Santa Anna in the battle of San Jacinto.
Stephen.F.Austin is my favorite Texas hero because he had carried down a goal his father Moses Austin had asked him to do before he died from a type of illness called pneumonia .Stephen had also brought 300 familes into texas and went to get the Mexican Governments permission to start a colony in texas.At first the Mexicans said no.After a while Stephen started to learn their language and their heritage .When Stephen .F. Austin went back a second time to ask and got their permission to start a colony in Texas and went back to the colony to tell them but got pulled back and went to jail. After a few years he was realeased and he went to his colony.
ReplyDeleteSusanna Dickinson is a texas hero because if she didn't deliver the message to sam Houston we would have never won. susanna was a person who survived the alamo. So thats why susanna dickinson is my hero.
